The MOU aims to establish a framework of cooperation in the adoption of PhilSys in the SSS and determine other possible joint projects and programs and realize the goal to provide more convenient and accessible services for Filipinos through a digital identification system.

PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, and SSS President and CEO Rolando Ledesma Macasaet, led the MOU signing. Key officials of the PSA and SSS witnessed the ceremony held last 11 July 2023 in Quezon City.

Usec. Mapa addresses key officials of PSA and SSS during the MOU signing ceremony.

“I am confident that PhilSys, in cooperation with SSS, will enable to broaden transition to digital online citizen-centric delivery of services. Thus, we deem this partnership and collaboration a priority towards the realization of a digital economy,” said PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General following the signing of the MOU.

“We are excited for the continued and strong partnership and collaboration with the SSS towards achieving our services to the Filipino people starting with this MOU. Expect that the PSA will remain committed to this project and our succeeding ones to completion,” he added.

Usec. Mapa also expressed his gratitude to SSS for their commitment in the shared goal of simplifying transactions and seamless delivery of services through PhilSys.

The PSA recently partnered up with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for the use of the PhilSys registry for easier identity verification of potential social protection program beneficiaries of the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) or Listahanan. Through the use of the PhilSys registry for identity verification, the DSWD will be able to eliminate duplicates or ghost beneficiaries and ensure targeted delivery of benefits to rightful recipients.
