Reference Number: 2023-187

Release Date: Tuesday, May 30, 2023

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has hit another milestone in issuing the PhilID and the ePhilID, now at 65,050,382 million.

Out of the 65-million figure, 31,204,200 are PhilIDs delivered as of 19 May 2023, while 33,846,182 are ePhilIDs issued as of 20 May 2023 – a combination of the printed and downloadable versions.

“In less than a month, more than five million registered persons are included in the growing number of Filipinos with PhilIDs and ePhilIDs and may now enjoy the benefits of being registered to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys),” said PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General. “Makakaasa ang ating mga kababayan na patuloy ang PSA sa pagpupursige na maihatid ang PhilID at ePhilID sa bawat registered person sa bansa.” he added.

Van Allen Tan, a young professional from Paranaque City, is one of the many PhilID cardholders in the country. He was able to use his PhilID in renewing his Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) ID from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).

“So far, nagamit ko ito sa BIR as a valid proof of identity and natuwa naman ako kasi tinanggap siya as primary ID,” he said. “I also think it’s pretty cool, because as I’m aware the goal is having a centralized ID for the Philippines is the future,” he added.

The PSA continues to work closely with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for card production and printing and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) for PhilID delivery.

PSA field offices are on the frontlines for ePhilID issuance at registration centers and its house-to-house and plaza-type distribution nationwide.

PhilSys-registered persons are encouraged to visit https://appt.philsys.gov.ph to check if they can claim their ePhilIDs. Registered persons who have received an official text message from the PSA may also download a PDF copy of the ePhilID on their mobile devices.

With the increasing number of PhilIDs issued, the PSA has also started reaching out to registered persons whose front-facing photo in their PhilID were peeled off for its replacement.
